To begin with, the description of this book completely misled me as the Goddess of Love made no appearance in this story, whatsoever. I quickly got over that, however, and became so immersed in Stacy Temple's life that I finished this book in 5 days! I'm still surprised by that because I'm a notoriously slow reader and there just haven't been many books that I literally inhale so quickly.Stacy Temple is your typical young working gal who has had her share of ups and downs in the relationship arena. After her last relationship ended nearly a year ago, Stacy's focus turned to her career at an Internet start-up company selling sexy lingerie that she has neglected her sexual needs. No big deal, right? Apparently Stacy discovers it is a very big deal. She learns through a sex column emailed to her by a friend that after one year of celibacy, a girl gets "re-virginated." No, "it" doesn't grow back, but according to the column, it may as well as you are officially a virgin again. This sends Stacy on a quest to get lucky before the one year mark. With failure after failure with several prospective partners (one of which is a paid escort gifted to Stacy by her boss!!!), Stacy's desperation rockets upward.
This book was hilarious. I laughed out loud throughout the book while shaking my head combined with a little bit of eye-rolling at what was waiting on the next page. However, I couldn't help but cheer Stacy on. I had to give the girl points for seeing it through despite the odds of overall failure. Who knew it would be so hard to find someone to have sex with in New York City? Finding out how this would all shake out kept my anticipation level rising at the same pace as Stacy's desperation.
This was a very fast read for me that made me laugh out loud several times. I highly recommend this to fans of both the chick-lit and contemporary romance genre who are looking for an entertaining and humorous book to escape into...eye-rolling optional.

The Accidental Virgin A Novel Valerie Frankel 9780060938413 Books Reviews
Stacey Temple is coming up to almost a whole year without sex and working in a business where sex toys and sexy lingerie are the rage, its a wonder she hasnt managed to find somebody to do the deed with. After her friend Charlie forwards her an email from a sex columnist named Gigi , Stacey Temple realises that if she doesn't have sex in the next couple of weeks - she will officially become a virgin once again. So begins a fun and laughable novel as Stacey is determined to lose herself sexually to somebody in order to risk not becoming a virgin once again. As we turn from page to page we read as Stacey finds herself in some interesting and not so interesting positions with a bunch of very different men from Jorge - the expensive high class escort her boss paid for , Jason - a guy she went on a few dates with , Charlie- her best friend , Brian - her ex-boyfriend whom she is about to discover has a secret of his own , Tom - A co-workers son who may or may not be able to get it up and working , Oliver - the apartment secret note passer and experience Stacey's first time as she is approached by a female co-worker to get down and busy.
A fun and easy quick read novel that will have you chucking away and cringing at some of the lengths Stacey is willing to do in order not to become "The Accidental Virgin".
Stacey Temple hasn’t had sex in a year and your best friend Charlie informs her that if a year goes by without sex she will become a virgin again. This is a gal that works for a .dot company that sells sexy lingerie. Her friend Charlie sends her a sex column to read which is written by a person by the name of Gigi. Stacy replies to the column and gets a reply from the columnist that she doesn’t like so she gives herself a week to become a non virgin. Now the antics start. She sees a guy in the an all night diner that she nicknames vampire boy but low and behold hold vampire boy is her neighbor. She tries to do the deed with her best friend Harry well that didn’t turn out well since he has an allergic reaction. Then we have Stanley who is a millionaire and has the hots for Stacy. Did I forget to mention that he has a .dot company also. That union doesn’t go well. Did I tell you about her exboyfriend who is now engaged. After all this failed attempts she just gives up and decides to go to a bar as a last resort. Who does she see in the bar but her fantasy movie star who is with a group of the bad boys that like to get notches on their belts. After all the failures she has encountered she just gives up and goes home to order a pizza. The pizza is delivered by all the men in her life of the past week. That have 10 minutes to state their case on why she should pick them to end her virgin days. Who does she pick or does she pick, can’t tell ya read the book.
It’s an easy read but doesn’t put women in a good light. Most women that read this book will most likely think or say is that they way we are or come across at times.
So difficult to read.
I read this book several years ago and just rediscovered it and ordered it for my . I love that I can't relate to the main character Stacey and the hilarious ideas she has are non far fetched for the imaginative business woman of today.
I just recently finished "The Accidental Virgin". It was nothing special. I really wanted to like it but Stacy and her thing about not becoming a virgin just became just too much. The story could have been really good if dealt with differently but the author just made Stacy so desperate. No wonder she had such difficultly finding a man, her desperation must have some level scared them off. Like some of the other reviewers on here, I wondered what exactly was her reasoning for her not to become "revirginized". Why was it so important? I really wished that this was explained. If anything, it showed Stacy to be a shallow person and not very likeable. The author's writing and phrasing was really good and probably the only reason that I kept reading. So I will read another book by Valerie Frankel and hope that the story is better than this.
